The ashram is long-established with a compelling yoga and meditation programmed in place overseen by exceptional yogis. With a decline of such unique places this really is a fantastic opportunity to gain an experience like no other.
I met these people while they were researching and considering setting up an orphanage and during all times their focus was on these children and what they could do for them to help provide them with a more prosperous future, it is very difficult nowadays to find an organization that truly helps others and expects nothing in return but these guys are incredibly noble in every sense of the word.
The ashram is located in a wonderful setting and I spent many mornings’s practicing yoga and meditation with the Himalayas in the background. Sometimes we would go into the jungle to meditate or just for a walk to look at all this wonderful natural beauty that surrounds the ashram.
All meals are traditional Nepalese such as rice, with lentils and a curry and are really tasty, for a real challenge use your fingers instead of a knife and fork takes some getting used to!
Today I still have a passion for yoga and meditation which I practice nearly every day, most importantly though is that I carry a light in me that was re-ignited by my time as a volunteer and having contact with the ashram, I am due to return to Nepal in February 2009 and am looking forward to helping as much as I can.
This really is a life enhancing experience, Nepal has so much to offer so don’t think anymore about if you should or should not go just go and get your flight booked!
